Nick Fox Runs 250km in Memory of Brailer Cuevas
Niftylift’s EHS Officer, Nick Fox, has completed an incredible 250km ultramarathon from our Hoyland site in South Yorkshire to our Shenley Wood headquarters in Milton Keynes—raising an impressive £2,500 for Leukaemia UK in the process.
This challenge was undertaken in memory of our colleague and friend Brailer Cuevas, a Senior Control Systems Engineer who sadly passed away on 1st June 2024 following complications related to leukaemia. Nick’s run coincided with the first anniversary of Brailer’s passing and was completed over four days between 30 May and 2 June 2025.
“Hopefully, I did Brailer proud,” said Nick. “It was a rollercoaster with some very interesting sights along the way—but every step was worth it.”

The Final Stats
- Total Distance: 250km
- Total Time (excluding overnight stops): 38 hours and 24 minutes
- Total Raised: £2,450 (and still rising!)
- Donations Open Until: 28 August 2025
- Route: Hoyland, South Yorkshire → Shenley Wood, Milton Keynes

Nick’s self-funded journey included daily video updates, a live GPS tracker, and a detailed website covering everything from kit lists and calories to maps and gear reviews. A full highlights video is also in the works.
A Team Effort
Nick was quick to thank the many colleagues who supported him on this journey:
- Alexis, Brailer’s partner, for her blessing and encouragement
- Carl, for keeping the event website running smoothly
- The Nifty Runners, for their support and motivation
- Everyone who helped organise the warm welcome at Shenley Wood
- And everyone who donated or came out to cheer him on

It’s Not Too Late to Donate
Nick’s JustGiving page remains open until 28 August 2025, and every donation—no matter how small—helps support vital research into better treatments and care for those affected by leukaemia.
A Fitting Tribute
Nick’s challenge was more than just a physical feat—it was a powerful tribute to a much-missed friend and colleague, and a shining example of the spirit and determination that makes the Niftylift community so special.
