Understanding our bespoke ranking system: Niftylift’s Standard Duty Cycle
Testing our All-Electric machines to understand machine endurance, efficiency and battery life to develop industry-leading products
Wednesday 31 May 2023
As we develop more electric-powered machinery, it’s evermore important to understand our machines’ performance. This is why we developed the Standard Duty Cycle (SDC) test, a process that provides a representation of real-world machine usage.
What is the Standard Duty Cycle test?
The Niftylift Standard Duty Cycle (SDC) test provides us with a practical understanding of how much work each of our machines can actually perform. By making our machines perform a series of real-world tasks, not only can we measure the level of work a machine can execute but also directly compare machine performance.
How does it work?
The SDC test always starts with a fully charged machine. From here, the machine performs a sequence of machine functions with a full Safe Working Load and at maximum speed.
Each sequence is known as a Standard Duty Cycle. These sequences are repeated until the machine battery runs flat or the machine can no longer operate. The number of Standard Duty Cycles executed on one full charge is the machine’s SDC rating. To ensure we gain accurate insights into our machine performance, we have developed custom SDC tests for each of our product range types to represent the way that machine type is used.
All of our All-Electric machines have an SDC rating of 32 or above which is twice the industry standard, and some can even work up to five days on a single charge!
What are the benefits of testing?
These specific SDC tests for each of our machines allow us to measure - practically and realistically - how much work a machine can perform, providing us with beneficial insights into machine efficiency and battery life.
By directly comparing machine performance, we can adjust our machines throughout the product development process to deliver measurable improvements - adding more value to your Niftylift fleet.
