Niftylift Electrical Isolation - Best Practice
'Best Practice' advice on how to electrically-isolate mothballed machines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tuesday 21 April 2020
In light of governmental advice during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be necessary for Niftylift customers to leave their machines in situ for a prolonged period of time.
If not properly electrically-isolated batteries will continue to deplete over extended periods, causing a potential delay when machine operation is next required.
Furthermore, if left in a 'depleted state' for an extended period batteries can incur irreversible damage, leading to further downtime and repair or replacement costs.
To avoid this situation, Niftylift recommends the following actions to be taken when appropriate:
Please ensure that:
- All machine key switches are turned to the 'Off' position and removed for machine security.
- The Emergency Stop button is pressed.
- Isolator Button is pressed/Anderson Connectors are disconnected.
After any prolonged period of machine inactivity, it is recommended that a Safety Inspection be carried out before operation of the machine.
Should your Niftylift have missed any routine Services, as detailed in the Operators/Service Manual, these should also be carried out.

The above steps are for guidance only. Please refer to the Operators Manual for further guidance on specific machine types, which can be found here:
