GT Access Receive UK's First HR28 Hybrid

GT Access - Niftylift HR28 Hybrid

Midlands based GT Access has recently taken delivery of the UK's very first Height Rider 28 (HR28) Hybrid 4x4 from Milton Keynes based access platform manufacturer Niftylift.

The revolutionary new HR28 Hybrid, which is also the world's largest electric mobile elevating work platform (MEWP), was delivered to GT Access' Bromsgrove depot and received by Jon Till, Managing Director of GT Access.

This all-new Niftylift boom boasts one of the largest working envelopes in its class and is also the smallest and by far the lightest. The specification includes a 28m (92') working height coupled with an impressive 19m (62') of working outreach, and all from a chassis weighing just 14,500kg. This lower weight also offers the significant benefit that smaller more cost effective transportation to be used when moving the HR28.

Niftylift's Tim Ward commented:

"For the first time a 90 foot plus machine will not need a 'Low Loader' to move it to site. With the right specification a 26 tonne truck can be used, offering the potential for huge cost savings for our customers."

Other features of the HR28 Hybrid include Niftylift's multi award-winning SiOPS® operator safety system as well as a 150º fly-boom with 180º cage rotate and 280kg capacity.

However, the most innovative feature of this machine has to be its Hybrid power system. This enables the use of a smaller Diesel engine, reducing fuel consumption (and thereby running costs), and Niftylift's advanced exhaust purification system (which includes a catalytic converter) removes 90% carbon monoxide, 80% hydrocarbons and 30% of particulates, further enhancing its green footprint.

A Diesel Re-Gen feature charges the machine's batteries during normal Diesel operation (much faster than mains charging), so the HR28 Hybrid can potentially work 24 hours a day, seven days a week greatly improving its utilisation potential. And if that isn't enough, it can also be operated electric-only for clean, quiet operation both inside and out.

This picture shows Jon Till and Tim on a very blustery day outside the new offices and workshop of GTA in Bromsgrove. This new 12,000 square foot facility is next door to Jon's previous premises that were demolished to create more yard space.

Jon Till commented:

"I must admit it was quite emotional seeing the old place being knocked down, the old place was very good to us but 'Tide and Time wait for no Man' and we just outgrew it."

At present GTA has 5 depots; Gloucester, Stoke, Telford, Hereford and Bromsgrove (head office).

GTA recently celebrated passing the 800 machine mark and we understand at this meeting Niftylift were given an order worth well over two million pounds making this their largest single order this year.
