New UK hire company enters the access market

Paul Johnson, owner and manager of new UK rental company

A new access rental company has opened in the UK.  Upward Powered Access is based near Oxford and has a fleet comprising mostly of Genie scissor lifts and Niftylift booms.

Owner and manager Paul Johnson decided to set up on his own when his former employer, Hire Platforms, was sold to the Lavendon Group. Preferring not to work for a large company and having spent most of his working life in plant hire and the access industry it was a logical move.

Starting with a fleet of less than 50 machines initially Mr Johnson said he would be concentrating on supplying machines into second fit trades such as electricians and heating and ventilation as well as industrial applications such as racking and warehousing.

"From humble beginnings I am looking forward to growing this business to a reasonable sized regional player in the industry," said Mr Johnson, "I would like to thank both Genie and Niftylift for their help and support getting this business started, as this company grows I hope I will repay their belief in me with more orders in the near future."
