Stores / Logistics Manager - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Introduction:

To effectively manage and develop people, plant, layout, systems, stock processing technologies and suppliers, to achieve both effective and efficient stock control management and supply to internal manufacturing facilities / customers and external customers.

Role in more detail:

  • To hands on manage and develop the logistics and stores functions as part of the operations management team, through equality of structured and agreed standards. To maintain volume production line feed / supply at all times.  Part of the overall operations management support team.
  • Efficient organisation and utilisation of staff, including compliance with health and safety standards, skills flexibility, and commercial achievement of product quality, delivery and cost requirements.  Measuring, reporting and managing key performance indicators.  Develop, audit and ensure systems and procedural compliance.
  • Maintain full understanding and compliance of  the companies ISO 9001 / ISO14001 standards, plus develop, maintaining and audit effective procedures and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and transactions in all operations of the company's manufacturing system, including accurate goods in, stock transfer and stock adjustment systems.  Maintain and audit defined high stock accuracy standards, including investigation / prevention of any inaccuracies.
  • Develop and sustain A,B,C part classification supply / organisational stock control structures.  Minimise inventory levels, whilst avoiding any stock out to line or none supply of customer warranty / spares situations.  Eliminate and prevent internal causes for part shortages.
  • Supplier development of delivery schedules, recyclable / reusable packaging formats, and direct to line supply.
  • Maintain a high standard of maintenance and housekeeping, and work place organisation throughout the Yard, Stores, Logistics and Line feed locations and facilities.
  • To support, implement and sustain continuous improvement through lean manufacturing techniques and philosophies throughout the complete logistics cycle of material supply, to product dispatch, including removal of non value added activities through each of the product / supply areas.
  • Develop and maintain cost effective internal transport systems and external transport / courier contracts.
  • People / culture / teamwork development and training in alignment with new methods / practices being introduced.  Encourage and facilitate improvements promoted from the employee teams.
  • Ensuring company procedures are complied with, along with the thorough management of discipline, with an agreed comprehensive and structured methodology.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualification in Manufacturing Engineering or Logistics Management to HNC standard minimum, or equivalent, and / or 5 years senior position in manufacturing logistics management.  Computer literate in Microsoft office and manufacturing software systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Competent in technical report writing.
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
