Purchasing Co-ordinator - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Main Purpose of Job:

This is a task driven support role, working under the supervision of a Senior Commodity Manager for a commercially minded person.

Providing an extensive & varied range of support information/ to the buying team taken from our 'Infor Visual Manufacturing' MRP system.

Provide reports & data to support the purchasing team in all areas with regard to the Management of the Vendor base, requesting quotations, coordinating data for supplier improvement actions.

Main Tasks of Job:

  • Management of ordering parameters within 'Visual manufacturing MRP', receiving, storing and retrieving as necessary, price quotations, and drawings. Formulating enquiry packages for the buying team;
  • Generation of weekly & monthly reports in support of the purchasing department & complete the resulting tasks in conjunction with the responsible Commodity Manager;
  • Procurement of development parts, equipment and also fixed assets;
  • Develop into the role of a commodity specific contact point for enquiries;
  • Closing of purchase invoices via direct contact with our vendors. Accounts receivable and accounts payable administration support along with the processing of returns and credit authorisations as necessary;
  • Ordering of bespoke components/consumable items to support our drive to meet the production deadlines for our customers, also the design & development of Niftylift products;
  • General administrative work to ensure this aspect of the department runs smoothly including maintenance of the engineering change system in support of the commodity manager;
  • Search & interrogate the Niftylift infrastructure for data to verify the above;

This not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation, this may include training and mentoring colleagues.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Able to demonstrate a successful educational history to A level or equivalent standard;
  • Office based experience would be beneficial - but not essential, - preferably in a purchasing office, or procurement role.



  • Commercial experience within a purchasing office;
  • Experience in problem solving;
  • Flexible in their attitude to work & capability to multi task;
  • Experience in dealing with external vendors;
  • Computer Literate -working knowledge of all Microsoft packages: particularly proficient in the ability to create & manipulate Excel spreadsheets to support analysis of data;
  • The ability to work using their own initiative requiring little supervision;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Work within strict deadlines to complete & prioritise allocated tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Highly organised, including good time management skills;
  • Good verbal communication skills in an office environment.
