Material Handler - Hoyland, South Yorkshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Material Handler to join one of the world's leading manufacturers of mobile elevated work platforms. The position is based at our Hoyland, Barnsley branch. Key Requirements

  • 2.0 tonne counterbalanced FLT licence holder, conversion course to 4 tonne Combi-lift provided.
  • Be a dedicated member of the Material Handling team, ensuring consistent discipline, time keeping, and a good level of flexibility and a mentality of continuous improvement.
  • To ensure the correct levels of quality, safety and factory housekeeping are maintained.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings preferred.
  • Experience of handling bulky steel products in a workshop environment, loading and offloading road transport.
  • A good communicator must have good paperwork and organisational skills.
  • Must be prepared to work overtime.
  • Be a committed team player with emphasis on flexibility, productivity and be focused on continuous improvement.  This may involve working in different job functions, where trained, when requested.

Rate of pay: £9.30 per hour (paid monthly)

Production bonus:  (target average). * Paid monthly.

You may be required to work 2 weeks on day shift and 2 weeks on night shift.

Working hours (days): 40 hours per week. 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, with ½ hour unpaid lunch and 7.30am to 1.30pm Friday (no lunch). 

Working hours (nights): 40 hours per week.  8pm to 6am Monday to Thursday.  Two twenty minute paid breaks.  Night premium: basic x 1.33. 

Overtime rates (All working patterns):  Basic x 1.5 first 4 hours per day, basic x 2 thereafter. Basic x 2 Sundays

Holidays: 25 days flexible, plus statutory, 1 extra day for every full 5 years' service.

Company sponsored personal pension plan: The company sponsors a personal pension, it contributes 4% of salary providing the contribution is matched or exceeded by the employee (however with current tax relief the minimum cost to the employee is 3.12%)*

Death in service benefit: Payable to next of kin. *

* All are applicable after six months service

Healthcare scheme: The Company pays for a scheme where the employee can claim dental, optical and other treatment costs.
