Environmental Health & Safety Co-ordinator - Hoyland, South Yorkshire

Summary:

To develop the company's health and safety, environmental and logistics standards, systems, processes facilities and product engineering.  Successful implementation of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and cost reduction.  Effective communication training and awareness and auditing with the complete Niftylift team.

Role in more detail:

Structure, develop and maintain effective and comprehensive health and safety management standards and procedures in accordance with Health and safety management system BS EN18001.  Audit and sustain compliance requirements.

Structure, develop and maintain effective and comprehensive Environmental management standards and procedures in accordance with Health and safety management system BS EN14001.  Audit and sustain compliance requirements.

Co ordinate and improve all health and safety and environmental practices and controls, including structuring and maintaining COSHH assessments, Risk assessments, Manual handling assessments, Accident reports, Near miss report investigation, RIDDOR, Fire risk assessments and maintenance of safety and environmental  related equipment / plant etc.

Structured analysis, control and development of the logistics / stores and material handling methods, layout, equipment, process / work instructions and packaging specifications / supply conditions. 

Value stream mapping of the supply chain, from receipt to availability for assembly. 

Assessment, financial justification and implementation / commissioning of health and safety, environmental and logistics facilities, plant and equipment to develop and improve the business.

Lean manufacturing.  Facilitate practices through 5' s, single piece flowline production, removal of the 7 wastes, support of single piece flowline production, SMED, Cellular manufacture and poke yoke.  Value stream mapping of the supply chain, from receipt to availability for assembly. 

People / culture development and training in alignment with new methods / practices being introduced.  Encourage and facilitate improvements promoted from the employee teams through the use of Kaizen techniques.

This includes undertaking personal development training and the training of others.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent subjects essential
  • IOSH Safety Management qualification or equivalent desirable
  • NEBOSH qualification desirable but not essential
  • Computer literacy to a high standard in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Access
  • Previous experience within Health and Safety direct or indirect responsibilities
