Satish Patel: Technician Apprentice

Satish Patel

Name: Satish Patel
Course: Advanced Technician (2008-2012)
Current Role: Assistant Project Engineer

What did you study during your apprenticeship?

I studied Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at HND level with my local college and completed my NVQ Level 3 simultaneously. Niftylift were really supportive during my 4 year apprenticeship, during which I was out on day release for college. My colleagues were equally as supportive, offering me advice and help when I needed it.

Why did you choose Niftylift?

When I first applied for Engineering Apprenticeships, I was offered three from different companies. Niftylift was the only one where I could rotate through the different disciplines of engineering, gaining experience ranging from Mechanical Assembling, Production Support, New Product Development, Design and Modelling to Quality Assurance. This allowed me to have a better understanding of where my strengths were, and where I could pursue and progress my career once I completed my apprenticeship.

Do you have any advice for future apprentices?

I would recommend the Niftylift Technicians Apprenticeship for those who are keen on engineering but are not yet 100% sure on what field of engineering they would like to specialise in. The chance of hands on experience in each department meant that I came out of my apprenticeship 100% certain on which field of engineering suited me and my strengths.
